ARTIST RESIDENCY
THE HVITAHUS
Hvítahús is a residency program for artists and an art gallery. It's located just next to the Snæfellsnesþjóðgarður National Park. The program offers artists and other creatives to reside at our desired space to get creative in a different environment. We provide you with a home away from home, without the distractions of everyday life. The restored Hvítahús includes a fully equipped residency floor and a 30m² double-height studio/ exhibition hall and gallery facilities.

How long can I stay?
1-2 months. The residence time starts at first day of each month.
THE ARTISTS
Artist from all over the world have enjoyed the Hvitahus Residency.
The tranquillity and the unspoiled nature surrounded by the astonishing landscapes and the glacier in the backyard makes it a perfect place for artists to create their art, whether you are a Painter, Graphic Artists, Musician, a Writer or any other creative.

My residency at Hvitahus was magical. The studio space felt like a cathedral while the living space upstairs was cozy and had all the amenities to feel at home. I felt I was floating between the two spaces at all times of the day or night and completed a Suite of Drawings:

Music
Hvítahús is a wonderful artist residency! The studios are spacious and the living space is comfortable and well-equipped. The location is amazing — on the coast and bordering Snæfellsnes National Park with amazing views of Snæfellsjökull volcano. The nearby towns are friendly and convenient; and there is endless exploring available in the area.
Lastly, the hosts are very considerate and accommodating. I was focussed and productive at Hvítahús and hope to return again!

I had such a great time in Hvitahus. The atmosphere indoors is perfect for living and working. Following the lights from early morning untill late night is marvellous in these surroundings. I had lots of time for work and reflections. When staying in Hvitahus I decided to start my own small photogallery. @tunet.no gallery opened the doors 14. august! 😊 And september 23. I will show my second piece of work from Hellissandur in another gallery. All with its origin from Hvitahus. ❤️ Lise

The sea is only a stone throw away, with perfect views of the horizon from the residential space on the upper floor. Great for watching sunsets.
